Old shells found in Meiktila

A construction worker unearthed four old shells which are believed to be from Japanese occupation period during WWII in Meiktila Township, Mandalay Region this morning.

The worker identified as U Than Tun, 46 years old from Yedashe Township found four old bombs under the ground when he dug a foundation to build an underground cable line near No.2 Basic Education High School at about 9 a.m. today. Upon receiving information, the local police traveled to the location where the antiquated munitions were discovered.

The police commandeered the explosive ordinances and handed them over to the security personnel from the No. 910 Military Engineering Regiment.—Bo Bo (Mahlaing)
