Minhla, 23 May
No casualties were reported in an oil tank fire in Minhla Township, Magway Region yesterday, according to a source from the Information and Public Relations Department.
The fire broke out while crude oil was being transferred to an oil storage by using an engine pump in the compound of a house belonging to a man named U Thet (alias) U Phoe Thet about 2 p.m. on 22 May. The cause of the fire is attributed to have started from a friction between two oil pipes. The blaze engulfed about 25 gallons of crude oil, damaging two truck cars badly.
Firefighters together with policemen and residents extinguished the flame with the use of two fire engines and one water tanker.—IPRD
