The Japan Coast Guard says it has been notified that a North Korean fishing boat capsized in Japan's exclusive economic zone in the Sea of Japan.
A Japanese Fisheries Agency vessel reported to the Coast Guard on Wednesday morning that a North Korean fishing boat told them it was looking for another boat that had overturned.
The agency vessel said the capsizing was not a result of a collision.
The Coast Guard has dispatched a patrol vessel and aircraft to search for the boat.
