Ngar Kyee reinforced-concrete bridge opened in Monyo Township

A reinforced-concrete bridge named “Ngar Kyee” in Ngar Kyee Village, Monyo Township, Thayawady District, Bago Region was launched yesterday morning with an opening ceremony.

The bridge will cross the Myitmakha River with a length of 320 feet and 20 feet wide, and it is linking Htan Pin Gone Village Tract and Ywar Tharyar
Village Tract.

In turn, the bridge also connecting Monyo Township and Gyobingauk Township.

At the opening ceremony, Bago Region Chief Minister U Win Thein gave an opening speech. Next, Bago Region Rural Road Department Director U Aung Kyaw Lu explained the details of the bridge and Bago Region Hluttaw Representative of Monyo Township U Win Ko expressed heartfelt thanks for the bridge completion.

Afterwards, Chief Minister U Win Thein, Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Maung Yin, Amyotha Hluttaw Representative Dr Win Myint; Bago Region Hluttaw Representative U Aye Win and Bago Region Rural Road Department Director U Aung Kyaw Lu and officials cut the ribbon to open the bridge.

The bridge was built by the Han Thiri Construction Company under the close supervision of the Rural Road Department of Monyo Township with a capital allocation of K614.40 million from the 2019-2020 financial year to the 2020-2021 financial year. Construction began on 20 January 2020 and was completed on 16 July 2020.

Nga Kyi Bridge will benefit 38,503 people of 9,089 households from 65 villages and 11 village tracts.

Before completion of the bridge, the distance from Monyo Township to Gyobingauk Township was about (37/0) miles. After the construction, it was only about 22/4 miles.

The bridge will provide easy access to local people from one place to another in a short period of time, said local authorities.
