The government of New Zealand on Thursday raised its overseas travel advisory to the highest level in response to the new coronavirus pandemic.
It is the first time the country has advised its citizens not to travel abroad.
Citizens who are currently overseas are being urged to consider returning home immediately, while those who are living abroad are being asked to take the best possible measures under regional circumstances.
Neighboring Australia on Wednesday also advised its citizens not to travel overseas.
