Natural disaster response plans incorporate COVID-19 precautions

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye held a video conference with Nay Pyi Taw and state/regional natural disaster management heads concerning prevention of COVID-19 in disaster preparation, emergency response and rehabilitation.

In his speech, the Union Minister said COVID-19 guidelines need to be implemented in the preparations and emergency response plans for natural disasters such as fires, cyclones, hailstorms, droughts, hurricanes and floods that are already in place. He asked attendees to discuss natural disasters in process in Nay Pyi Taw council and the states and regions.

This was followed by meeting attendees discussing processes necessary for natural disaster management, stocking up on protection equipment, and emergency response plans in place for natural disasters to which the deputy minister, directors-general and officials replied.—MNA
