Multi-purpose cyclone shelter built in Taninthayi Twsp to house disaster victims

Construction of a multi-purpose cyclone shelter in Myaymaohn Village in Taninthayi Township has been 100 percent finished on January 9.


The facility was built with the aim of helping locals take refuge when disasters such as floods and landslides occur in the township in the rainy season. The one-storey structure is of a reinforced concrete facility and was built by a private firm by spending over 148 million kyats of the disaster management fund in the fiscal year 2019-2020.


Arrangements will be made to house the disaster victims under the guidance of the township disaster management committee, said U Kyaw Hsan, an official from the township Department of Disaster Management.
