Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement highlighted that the ministry is reaching out to the people and providing their social needs. People’s participation and involvement are important in this regard. Volunteers take leading roles to do good not only for themselves but also for the others as they are closely related. They also strive for a better society.
The minister also informed that the MCCT (Maternal and Child Cash Transfer) programme will be carried out within Ayeyawady Region when he met with the town/village-based volunteers from Pyapon and Dedaye, who will be participating in the implementation, yesterday.
At the meeting, the matters relating to registration of entitled pregnant women and under-2-year-old children, nutrition, personal hygiene, family healthcare, other services and provisions by the ministry and information about natural disasters were also discussed.
The MCCT programme has been initiated, as a priority, in Chin and Rakhine States in 2017-2018 financial year. It has also been extended to Kayin and Kayah States. Expansion of the programme this year will be in Ayeyawady Region and Shan State, he added.
It aims to develop both body and mind of the children since they are young and to enhance better human resources for Myanmar as well as for the entire society. The programme is being implemented with the State fund and low-interest loan from the World Bank. It is necessary to ensure no losses and shortcomings with the State fund. It is also important to pay back the loan in time. The ministry is also planning to use an electronic cash transfer system for speedy cash assistance, he said.
The MCCT programme will conduct 158 trainings for town/village-based volunteers from 26 townships and six districts in Ayeyawady Region.
The minister, in the morning, donated 500,000 Kyats, blankets and bedsheets to the Kandawmingalar Elderly Home in Pyapon. He also gave cash assistance of K27 million to 27 social organizations in Dedaye and Kyaiklat.—MNA
