Motor Vehicles Importing Supervisory Committee holds meeting (1/2021)

The Motor Vehicles Importing Supervisory Committee held the (1/2021) meeting yesterday afternoon in the Ministry of Commerce via videoconferencing in Nay Pyi Taw.


At the meeting, Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the Committee said there would no longer be the individual programme or old vehicle programme in importing vehicles in 2021.


It has been announced that vehicles manufactured within three years can be imported as private vehicles with non-commercial purpose. In the import of passengers vehicles, it should be the vehicle manufactured within 5 years and the import of fire engine and ambulance includes the vehicles manufactured within 10 years. As for the import for heavy machineries, the vehicles manufactured in the last 15 years are allowed to import.


A total of 123 civil servants were allowed to import vehicles from abroad from 18 December, 2020 to 7 January, 2021 and the Union Minister said to help those people in buying automobiles from the showrooms.


Afterwards, the members of the committee who attended the meeting presented their related activities in the respective sectors and the Union Minister coordinated the meeting.
