MoI Union Minister meets literati doyen, inspects Photolitho Printing Press, Global New Light of Myanmar daily

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met mem­bers of the National Literary Award Selection Committee and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee yes­terday in Yangon.

 

In his speech, the Union Minister said the committees should select the winners of the National Literary Award, Sar­pay Beikman Manuscript Award and National Lifetime Award for Literary Achievement system­atically, and the literary award ceremony will be held in Nay Pyi Taw this year.

 

He continued that literature has become sensitive today, and it is also the life of the country. He highlighted the guidance of the Head of State in raising reading habits.

 

He concluded the meeting after hearing the reports made by the attendees.

 

On the same evening, the Union Minister headed to the Photolitho Printing Press and The Global New Light of Myan­mar newspaper publishing house on Ngahtetgyi Pagoda Road in Bahan Township of Yangon.

 

He inspected the printing processes, met the staff and mentioned the guidance of the Head of the State to print the books that use the State budget at the printing houses of the Min­istry of Information, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, Ministry of Education and Di­rectorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare starting from this year.

 

He then called on the attend­ees to ensure the printing quality, complete the printing services without any errors in time and be aware of the waste of raw ma­terials. — MNA/KTZH
