MoBA discusses reopening of training schools, construction works

The Education and Training Department under the Ministry of Border Affairs held a virtual coordination meeting on preparations for the reopening of training schools and construction works of training schools in 2020-2021FY yesterday.


The meeting was attended by Union Minister Lt-Gen Ye Aung, Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Phone Myat, the Permanent Secretary, the Directors-General, Rectors, Deputy Directors-General, principals of Degree Colleges, Regions/States/Districts Heads, Principals of Youth Training Schools and Vocational Trainings.


The meeting discussed reopening the University for the Development of the National Races of the Union, Nationalities Youth Resource Development Degree College (Yangon, Sagaing), 45 border youth development training centres, 9 mechanical schools and 46- women’s vocational training schools in the post-COVID-19 pandemic.


The Union Minister highlighted the need for preparations for new normal lifestyles to coexist with COVID-19 and plan to study the technologies which play a key role in the future.


He said the people need to follow the COVID-19 health rules released by National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19, Ministry of Health and Sports and relevant regions/states government with their own knowledge and reasoning skills.


He also discussed the efforts of the department for the development of ethnic people in border areas and plans to implement the 7 objectives and short and long term plans of ministry by linking with the 3 pillars and 5 goals of Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (MSDP).


He highlighted the 7 goals and 10 strategies of COVID-19 Economic Relief Plan (CERP) in conducting the operations amid COVID-19, Affiliate learning system for higher education system among the universities and cooperation work in drafting the Phase II of National Education Strategic Plan (NESP) 2021-2030 and the curriculums for relevant universities by holding Board of Study (BOS) meetings.


The Union Minister said the Education and Training Department was established with the purposes of promoting and teaching basic and higher educational subjects to the nationalities youths from border areas and training and nurturing them to be intellectuals and intelligentsia who can serve for the development of their regions and providing domestic vocational courses for the socio-economic development.


The principals and the officials need to make preparations to offer the best teachings, to complete the constructions of 2020-2021FY and to manage the operations to achieve quality buildings in accordance with the allocated budgets.


The Director-General of the Education and Training Department briefed the work plans of the department while other officials presented the plans being conducted in line with the COVID-19 health rules, preparations for reopening of training schools, capacity building courses for teachers and instructors and management sectors. The Deputy Minister and other attendees to the meeting coordinated the discussions and then the Union Minister concluded the meeting.
