MIFER holds COVID-19 Procurement Committee coordination meeting

A coordination meeting of the Procurement Committee on Medicines and Medical Equipment for COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment was convened at the office No. 1 of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER) yesterday afternoon. 

Union Minister U Aung Naing Oo highlighted fruitful negotations with the foreign counterparts in importation and distribution of the essential medical equipment and oxygen concentrators, liquid oxygen and pharmaceuticals and successful implementation of the subcommittees regarding transport, export/import matters and Customs regulations. Thanks to the coordination, the spread of COVID-19 was under control, he added. Furthermore, he discussed future activites. 

Then, Dr Aye Tun, Deputy Minister for Health, who is also a secretary of committee, elaborated preventive measures, activities of the procurement committee, vaccine administration situation and budget allotment. 

Afterwards, committee members focused on concerning continuous actions for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment, procurement of medicines and medical devices, donations of the COVID-19-related equipment from development partner countries and organizations, and future plans of the commmittee to purchase essential pharmaceuticals and related medical supplies.
