Matupi steps up coronavirus prevention measures

As part of efforts to prevent coronavirus from spreading in the town of Matupi in southern Chin state, departmental officials including doctors, nurses and health workers stepped up coronavirus prevention measures such as conducting health checks on travellers and guests with infrared thermometers, spraying disinfectant at public entities, putting up posters giving information about the virus, handing out leaflets this morning. 

The departmental staff headed by township administrator U Aung Myint Kyaw and Dr Thit Lwin Thein, doctor in charge of the township disinfected hotels and guesthouses in the town. The township authorities asked town dwellers to suspend services at churches, wedding receptions, traditional festivals and gatherings.

 People who returned from abroad will be subject to 14-day quarantine at the public hospital in the town, according to local authorities.—Salai Van Roe Htan
