Staff from the township Department of Livestock, Breeding and Veterinary (LBVD) under Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation conducted a mass immunization campaign against rabies at its office in Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Region this morning.
Dr. Yee Mon Aye, Dr. Kyaw Ye Naing and medical staff from the Township LBVD injected domestic dogs and other dogs from Monasteries against rabies free of charge under the global strategic plan to prevent human deaths from dog-transmitted rabies by 2030.
“Each year, rabies causes approximately one death in 15 minutes worldwide. Now, thousands of human lives can be fully prevented from rabies. We will continue to vaccinate the remaining dogs in the township,” said Dr. Yee Mon Aye.
