Mandalay medical volunteers travel to Rakhine State

To assist in the COVID-19 measures in Rakhine State, a group of 35 medical volunteers departed from Mandalay International Airport yesterday. This is the first volunteer group to travel to Rakhine State to assist in COVID-19 preventive and containment measures. 


They were escorted at the airport by Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr Zaw Myint Maung, Regional Hluttaw Deputy Speaker Dr Khin Maung Htay, Mandalay Mayor Dr Ye Lwin, Regional Minister for Immigration and Human Resources U Aung Kyi, government secretary U Myint Lwin, local public health and treatment department head Dr Than Than Myint and other officials who also handed over provisions.


The volunteer group consists of 4 assistant doctors, 28 nurses 3 lab technicians and medical experts from district, township and community hospitals of Mandalay Region. They will be assisting in hospitals of Sittway and Kyaukpyu.
