Jade stone monument erected to commemorate 71st Anniversary of Kachin State Day

A large jade stone was erected as a monument for the 71st Anniversary of Kachin State Day in front of Myitkyina Airport at 9 am yesterday.


Chief Minister of Kachin State, Dr. Khet Aung, delivered opening remarks at the ceremony. He said erecting the monumental jade stone in front of the Myitkyina Airport intends to raise awareness of Kachin State’s reputation as the land of jade and is a signature of Kachin State. He said domestic and foreign travellers entering and leaving the airport will be able to learn about Myanmar’s treasured jade and will give rememberance of Kachin state in conjunction with jade land for ever. He mentioned there are plans to erect more jade stone memorials in other locations. The Chief Minister then expressed his gratitude to the donor family for the jade memorial.


Next, the jade’s donor, Dr. Banlun Duwa Bomyan explained about the donation.
 

Minister for Kachin State Road, Communication, Electricity and Industry U Win Nyunt, Minister for Kachin State Environment and Natural Resources U H La Aung, Kachin State Minister for Development Affairs U Nay Win and officials opened the ceremony by cutting the ceremonial ribbon and Chief Minister Dr. Khet Aung and Donor Dr. BanlunDuwa Bomyan pressed a button to unveil the jade stone.


The Chief Minister awarded honorable certificate to Donor Dr. Banlun Duwa Bomyan.
After the ceremony, the Chief Minister and local people pose for documentary photos with jade stone. The jade stone is weight:6.37 tons, height:8 feet and width-4 feet.
