Inter-State/Region Cricket Competition 2024 begins in Nay Pyi Taw

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Inter-State/ Region Cricket Competition was held at Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

The event was attended by State Administration Council members Daw Dwe Bu, Porel Aung Thein, Dr Hmu Thang, Dr Ba Shwe, U Shwe Kyein and U Yan Kyaw, Union ministers, deputy ministers, departmental officials, and relevant officials of Myanmar Cricket Federation, coaches and athletes.

 

Speaking at the event, the Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, in his capacity as Chairman of the Myanmar Olym­pic Committee, said the cricket competition was held to raise the interest of youths and develop the sport. Regions and states should also cooperate with the Myanmar Cricket Federation to improve the standard of Myanmar cricket sport.

 

He then urged the athletes to compete with competitive spirit, showing off their abilities, and the referees should make decisions without bias.

 

After the opening proce­dures, the SAC members and party cordially met athletes and watched the U-23 women’s crick­et competition between the Mon State team and the Kayin State team. The Inter-State and Region Cricket Competition 2024 will take place from 25 March to 3 April, and people can watch it for free. — MNA/KTZH
