Illegal Myanmar migrant workers handed over

Altogether 15 illegal Myanmar migrant workers—five male and 10 women who worked illegally in Thailand, were handed over by Thai authorities to their Myanmar counterparts on Thursday at No. 2 Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge in Tachilek, Shan State.

 


Myanmar migrant workers, who were without proper documents in Thailand, handed over by Thai authorities were accepted by Myanmar departmental officials and local authorities of relevant departments.

 


The returnee workers were sent to their places of origin after being provided with health care by the help of the Township General Administration Department, Labor, Immigration and Population Department, Anti-Human Trafficking Squad of Myanmar Police Force, Department of Labor, Caring and Negotiating Committee for Myanmar Citizens in Mae Sai, Thailand (CNCMC).

 


Altogether 659 illegal Myanmar migrants workers—417 male, 217 female and 25 children—were handed over by Thailand to Myanmar between January 1 and April 25 this year.—Phyo Lay (Tachilek)
