An illegal timber search and seizure operation team comprised of forest staff led by Assistant Director U Myint Kyaw of Mawleik District Forest Department confiscated abandoned illegal logs, sawn teaks and two trucks in Mawleik Township, Sagaing region from April 13 to 17 .
In the operation, six teak logs weighing 1.986 tons, six Pyinkadoe logs weighing 4.804 tons, 119 sawn teak bars weighing 7.5476 tons, nine sawn timber bars of other kind weighing 1.9194 tons, two six-wheeled vehicles used for carrying timbers were seized. The search for those who were involved in illegal activities is ongoing to take them to court, according to Staff Officer U Ohn Lwin of the Township Forest Department.— Mawleik Tharlay
