Houses, farmlands submerged by monsoon flood in Hapsaung Tsp.

The water level of Thanlwin River at Hpasaung Township has reached 232 centimetres above its danger mark, according to yesterday’s observation of Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

 

Due to the increase of water level in the river, water entered into the low-lying areas in the township and a total of 161 houses were submerged by flood water. A total of 664 people from the houses were evacuated to safety places and were provided with cash aids by the Kayah State Chief Minister and officials.

 

According to Township Department of Agricultural Land Management and Statistics, a total of 127.78 acres of farmland were affected by monsoon flood.
