Acting on a tip-off, Police Inspector Aung Thu and policemen from Dawei District Criminal Investigation Department, Tanintharyi Region confiscated stimulant tablets and a pusher yesterday.
Police from Dawei Criminal Investigation Department together with witnesses on 14 March searched Htin Lin Aung (a) Tharkyi’s house and its compound, and discovered 10 WY brand stimulant tablets filled in a plastic box from his bed, and 1583 WY brand stimulants tablets hidden in areca palms in front of the house. The authorities continued their search which led to the discovery of 1664 YW brand stimulant tablets hidden in the grasses 50 yards away from the house.
An investigation revealed that the drugs were bought from Aung Naing, 23, from Pekyunhtinhaung Ward, Market Road, Dawei, prompting the authorities to continue their search. They arrested Aung Naing on the road between Thapyaechaung village and Dawei along with 1664 stimulant tablets.
The authorities filed charges against the two under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.—Nanda Kyaw Swa
