Haul of drugs confiscated in Maungtaw

Acting on a tip-off, Police Sub-inspector Lin Ko Ko and policemen from Hpawat Chaung Village together with witnesses yesterday searched a vehicle which was heading to Kyikanpyin from Nganchaung, driven by Nyi Nyi, 48, son of U Thar Tun from Maungtaw, Rakhine State and confiscated 26130 stimulant tablets worth K 52.26 million from Ma Shwe Shwe,19, daughter of U Ring Zaw of Natchaung Village, Myawady Ward, Maungtaw and Ma Nwe Nwe Aung, 30, daughter of U Laung Hee of Myawady Village.

 

An investigation revealed that the drugs came from Aung Paing, 28, son of U Yin Nwe from Natchaung Village, Maungtaw Township and Biak Ya, 25, son of U Min Nu from Paingze Village, Maungtaw Township.

 

Further information led to the arrest of driver Nyi Nyi, 48, son of U Thar Tun from No 1 Ward, Pakokku and conductor Kyaw San, 17, son of U Maung Aye who taking the two women.

 

The authorities filed charges against the four under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.—Thet Lwin Soe (IPRD)
