A floating water festival (Thingyan) will be staged on a grand scale at Inle Cultural Heritage Trust Complex Nampan Village, Nyaungshwe Township in Shan State from 13 to 17 April.
The event will be organized by Miss Inlay Organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and the Shan State government. The water throwing festival is planned to feature entertainment programmes such as dances and songs, Thingyan “Yein” troupes as well as Mister & Miss Inlay 2019 contests.
In addition, it will include a rice offering ceremony for 1,000 members of the Sangha and New Year Dhamma ceremony. Local and foreign visitors are invited to take part in the festival.—MOHT
