Chanmyathazi, 31 December
No casualties were reported after a fire broke out at a house in Kantharyar Ward, Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay Region at 6.20 pm on 31 December.
A group of firefighters from nearby fire brigades rushed to the scene of the fire where they took about 25 minutes to completely extinguish the fire by using 50 fire engines, five water tankers and three administrative vehicles in cooperation with local people.
No casualties were immediately available due to the fire but it engulfed 17 houses. Action is being taken against the house owner identified as Daw Ngee, 46, over fire negligence by the local police station.
Presently, fire victims are taking shelter at a nearby religious building.–Than Zaw Min (IPRD)
