Financial assistance provided to elderly people, pregnant women and children  under age 2

A ceremony to provide financial assistance to elderly people aged above 85, pregnant women and children under age 2 was held at the town hall of Masae town in Masae township, Balkhe district, Kayah state yesterday afternoon. 

At the ceremony, Kayah State Chief Minister U Al Phaung Sho said that the government and its people must work together to address the needs of the people. He also urged all stakeholders to walk hand in hand with shared opinion towards a democratic federal union. With the aim to improve human resources, the union government has been providing financial assistance to pregnant women and children under age 2, he said. He finally urged the attendants to offer their cooperation in making a good move towards the development of the whole Kayah state in accordance with policies, rules and regulations laid down by the union government. 

Afterwards, the quarries raised by local people were answered by officials from respective departments. Then, the state Chief Minister, his wife, the state ministers, the state chief advocate and officials gave financial assistance to elderly people aged above 85, pregnant women and their children under age 2 in Masae township and inspected health care services provided by the township health department.

At today’s event, a total of nine elderly people received K 270000 for the months of October, November and December. Pregnant women and children under age 2 totaling 311 received K 13.65 million for the same three months.—Wut Yi (IPRD)
