The middle school level essay competition was held at the Community Center of the Information and Public Relations Department under the Ministry of Information in Danubyu Township, Ayeyawady Region yesterday morning to hail the 72nd anniversary of the Union Day.
First, an official from the IPRD explained the purpose of the contest and disciplines to be followed by the participants. 25 students from the Basic Education High School No.1 participated in the essay competition. The intention of the contest is to broaden horizons of the students about the Union Day which falls on 12 February.
Local authorities then presented awards to prize winners in the event. Also present on the occasion were departmental staff, teachers, members of a local book club and officials from the township women’s affairs association.—Aung Thu Hein
