Drugs seized in some townships

Policemen from Taungyi Anti-Drug Squad-25 on 21 April stopped a vehicle driven by a man on Loikaw-Taugngyi road near Lwewootok Village in Hopong Township, Shan State, but the driver managed to drive away.

 

Authorities continued searching the suspect and found unattended vehicle at about 6:00 pm on a main road in Htihantung Village in Hsi Sheng Township and seized 19960 stimulant tablets from the vehicle.

 

In a similar incident on the same day, police members from Katha Anti-Drug Squad-6 intercepted a motorbike, driven by a woman with another woman on board on Shwebo-Myitgyina road, in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region.  The police seized 207 grams of heroin and two mobile phones from the two identified as Ma Zuu, the driver and Ma Nu Nu Maw. 

 

As a result of investigation, Policemen from Mohnyin Anti-Drug Squad-3 conducted a search which led to the arrest of Daw Khine, who engaged in illegal business, of Phoechit Ward, Mogaung, Kachin State.

 

The authorities filed charges against all suspects under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.--MPF
