Drugs seized in Patheingyi, Bokpyin townships

Policemen from Karathuri Police Outpost on 22 April signaled to four people on a motorized boat in a tidal creek to stop the boat for inspection in Kyeinmetaung Village, Bokpyin  Township in Tanintharyi Region .

 


But a woman out of the four, identified as Ma San Nwe managed to escape and fled away. Police searched the boat and seized mitragyna speciosa  weighing 39.27365 kilos in the boat.

 


Similarly, policemen from Mandalay (North) Anti-Drug Squad-17 on Monday intercepted and searched a vehicle at the 16-mile checkpoint in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region. The search led to the discovery of 12000 stimulant tablets and a mobile phone from the bag of a passenger, identified as Yein Zung.

 


The authorities filed charges against the five under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.—MPF
