Authorities seized drugs at milepost 65/3 on Kalaw-Thazi Road near Yayya Village, Kalaw Township, Shan State (South) yesterday evening.
Acting on a tip-off, police members led by Police Inspector Soe Naing from Taunggyi Anti-Drug Squad-25 and policemen from Kalaw Myoma Police Station together with witnesses signaled a motorbike driven by Zaw Win Naing from Kalaw to Thazi to stop for inspection near milepost 65/3 on Kalaw-Thazi Road but Zaw Win Naing tried to escape. Security forces chased Zaw Win Naing and arrested him along with 800 stimulant tablets worth K 220000.
The authorities filed charges against Zaw Win Naing, 44, under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances law.—Township IPRD
