Iran's authorities say that 32 people were killed and 190 were injured in the stampede. At the funeral, the commander of the Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Hossein Salami, said the killing of the general will bring about the end of the US presence in the region.

Anti-US sentiment is mounting in Iran, while Iraq has called for the withdrawal of foreign troops including those from the US.
