Dolphins captured near Kyakan beach in Hainggyikyun released back into sea

Fifteen dolphins were accidentally trapped in fishing nets by a villager named U Myint Lwin in Hainggyikyun, Pathein District, Ayeyawady Region, at around 2 pm on 12 March. Upon realizing the unintentional capture, all 15 dolphins were promptly released back into the sea.

It was observed that the dolphins became entangled in the nets while they were feeding on natural weeds in the area. To prevent similar incidents in the future, the Fishery Department has directed the restriction of fishing activities in the surrounding marine region of Kyakan beach during the Mawtinsun Pagoda Festival period, as reported by the Fishery Department. – Hlaing Myo Aung (Hainggyikyun/ IPRD)/TMT
