Contracts signed for construction of Gyaing (Zathabyin), Gyaing (Ahtayan) bridges

Contracts were signed with a private firm to construct the bridges of Gyaing (Zathabyin) and Gyaing (Ahtayan) which are included in the package-2 under the project to upgrade three bridges on East-West Economic Corridor implemented by the Bridge Department under the Ministry of Construction with the ODA loan of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The signing ceremony held at the Ministry of Construction yesterday afternoon was attended by Deputy Minister for Construction Dr Kyaw Lin, directors-general, deputy directors-general, directors, departmental officials, Chief Representative of JICA Myanmar Office Mr Masayuki Karasawa and officials from IHI Infrastructure System Co.Ltd.

After delivering speeches by the Deputy Minister and the JICA Chief Representative, the contracts were signed by Director-General of Bridge Department U Shwe Lay and President of IHI Infrastructure System Co.Ltd signed the contracts which will be implemented with a total of 33,869 million yen of JICA ODA loan. The loan agreement was signed on 16 October 2015, and the consultant contract with JV of Central Consultant Inc was inked on 6 March 2017. The period of construction projects is estimated at 45 months. The contract agreement for construction of Gyaing (Kawkareik) bridge under the package 1 was signed with Hazama Ando and P.S Mitsubishi Construction Co.,Ltd on 12 March 2019.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
