Construction begins on Centre for Disease Control, Training and Research in Nay Pyi Taw

Construction on Centre for Disease Control, Training and Research, a cooperation between Myanmar and China, started yesterday with a launching ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw.

Speaking at the event, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe expressed thanks to the government of China for its contribution to establishing the centre which would benefit the health sector of Myanmar and would be existing as a milestone of friendship between the two countries.

“Upon completion, trainings and teaching for prevention and containment on infectious diseases and pandemic diseases and research work on the infectious diseases in cooperation with Chinese medical experts,” said Dr Myint Htwe.

Besides, the centre will be the place for trainings for the public health officials and researchers from the governmental departments across the country all year round, he added.

The establishing of centre comes after the agreement between the two countries during the visit of former President U Htin Kyaw’s visit to China in April 2017.

On behalf of the government of China, Mr Chen Hai pledged that China would give a two-year technical cooperation to the centre in producing disease prevention and control experts in Myanmar.
