Confiscated farmlands returned to rightful owners in Okpho

The land use certificates (Form-3) for the farmlands relinquished by the Ministry of Defence were returned to the rightful owners in Okpho Township, Bago Region on Sunday.

The land use certificates were presented to famers during a ceremony held at the town hall in Okpho this morning. Speaking on the occasion, the regional chief minister and chairman of the Bago Regional committee for scrutinizing confiscated farmlands and other lands U Win Thein said that various committees were formed to handle land disputes of the farmers and settle their difficulties. 

 

The regional government will provide necessary assistance to issue land use certificate (Form-7) to the farmers in accordance with the 2002 Farmland Law in order to benefit their descendants, he added. Afterwards, Deputy Commissioner U Aung Cho Oo explained matters relating to the farmlands. The chief minister, regional ministers U Aung Zaw Naing and Daw Nyunt Nyunt Htay and Lower House Lawmaker U Zaw Min presented temporary land use certificates (Form-3) to nine farmers.

 

During the ceremony, land use certificates for 258.59 acres of farmlands relinquished by the Ministry of Defence were presented to nine farmers on behalf of 91.—Tin Soe (Bago)
