Community Driven Development Project-funded school opens in Bamauk’s remote area

Bamauk, 27 January

A ceremony to open a post-primary school was held in Shwekyaung Village, Bamauk Township in Sagaing Region yesterday morning.

“Shwekyaung is a hard-to-reach village and is 40 miles away from Bamauk. Students have to study middle school education at other villages due to insufficient school facility. Despite many difficulties, we built a two-storey structure by using funds donated by residents and contributed by the National Community Driven Development Project, said Daw Thein Thein Kyi, member of the village community driven development project supportive committee.

She continued that, “I am very pleased with the opening of the school as the children will be able to pursue middle school education in the village.” The new school facility was formally opened by Township Deputy Education Officer U Myo Thet Aung, leader of the technical advisory body of the township community driven development project U Kyi Khaing, Village Administrator U Win Thein and concerned officials.

The 120 ft. long, 30 ft. high school building was constructed by spending Ks. 26 million financed by the National Community Driven Development Project and Ks. 5.8 million contributed by local people, said Daw Thet Soe Aye, information in-charge of the technical advisory body of the township community driven development project.—Min Myint Mo (Ngazon)
