Local authorities inspected construction of a community cyclone shelter in Kharphyat Village, Pyapon Township in Ayeyawady Region on August 25.
The structure is being built by Myanmar Land Development Co Ltd through a tender bidding system at a cost of K 265 million of the funds allotted by the National Disaster Management Committee in the current financial year.
The facility has been about 75 percent finished so far and once completed, it can accommodate around 500 rural people if natural disasters occur in the area, said an official from the Department of Rural Development.—Hla Hla Ngwe (IPRD)
