The real-time analyser for testing COVID-19 virus has arrived in Yangon through Myawady border town in Kayin State.

The Cobas 6800 Analyser has the capacity to test specimens of over 1,000 persons each day, and it will be installed at the Public Health Laboratory in Yangon.

The analyser and related equipment were conveyed by three container trucks, passing through the Friendship Border Bridge (2) between Myanmar and Thailand, around 2 pm to Yangon yesterday.

The AA Medical Products Ltd donated the analyser and other equipment worth over K800 million to the National-Level Central Committee for COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment and the Ministry of Health and Sports. The donation ceremony has been held at the Union Hall of Kyaikkasan Sports Ground in Yangon on 5 April.

Kayin State Hluttaw Representative U Thant Zin Aung said, “The equipment were carried through the Friendship Bridge (2) between Thailand and Myanmar at 2:20 pm, and taken to Yangon around 2:40 pm.” Local authorities and officials helped in sending the equipment to Yangon.— Htein Lin Aung (IPRD)
