Closing ceremony of Ethnics Culture Festival 2020 held

The closing ceremony of Ethnics Culture Festival 2020 was held at the Kyaikasan Ground in Yangon yesterday evening.

Theme song “Land of National People” was presented with a background video.

The ceremony was attended by Vice President U Henry Van Thio’s wife Dr Shwe Hlwan, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Nai Thet Lwin and wife, Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint and wife, Union Ministers’ wives, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker, regional ministers, Region / State ethnic affairs ministers, chairmen and members of self-administered regions and zones, Hluttaw representatives, chairpersons and members of Region/State ethnic entrepreneurs associations, delegations of ethnic literature and culture associations, ethnic people associations, representatives, donors and the invited guests.

At the closing ceremony, Union Minister Nai Thet Lwin said the festival was successfully held with the displays of ethnic cultures and traditional items. The event could generate high expectations for tourism industry which can support socioeconomic developments in ethnic areas, could foster friendly relations among ethnic people and also satisfy the leaders of the country.

He also called for ending the 70-year armed conflicts of the country. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein made a congratulatory remark, followed by Kayah State Hluttaw Speaker U Hla Htwe, Myanmar Ethnic Entrepreneurs Association Chairman U Yaw Set and Kayah State Ethnic Entrepreneurs Association Chairman U Tun Kyaw giving thanks to those who helped the ceremony.

Chairman U Tun Kyaw donated K5 million to the Institute of Sports and Physical Education, and honorary documents and commemorative gifts were given to the supporting companies organizations.

Vice President U Henry Van Thio’s wife Dr Shwe Hlwan, Union Ministers and wives, spouses of Chairman of Peace Commission and Union Attorney-General, Yangon Region Chief Minister and the government ministers, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker and Chief Justice, Kayah State Hluttaw Speaker, Deputy Ministers’ wives, Chairman of Myanmar Ethnic Entrepreneurs Association and wife, Vice Chairman and wife, Kayah State Entrepreneurs Association Chairman and its members, representatives from sponsor firms and Yangon Region Hluttaw MPs had the documentary photo taken.

The closing ceremony was concluded with entertainment programmes, and cash awards were presented to the contestants in Miss Ethnic Myanmar 2020. The festival was held from 1 to 7 February with intentions to promote friendly ties between ethnic people, to support peace-making efforts in the country, to foster unity of national people and to share traditions, food and cultures of ethnic nationals.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
