Chilli pepper yields, prices high in Pakkoku

The yield of chilli peppers in Pakkoku and its prices this year were higher than last year, according to U Tin Soe, a farmer from Myin Wun Village.


Chilli pepper is a major crop of the villages located along the Pakkoku-Myitchay Road, and thousands of acres of chillies are being cultivated in those villages of Mikepin Kone, Myokhin Tha, Thatyetpin Su, Nandaw Yat, Myin Wun, Bae, Aung Tha, Kalar Chaung, Nyaungbin, Uyin, Nangup and Nga Kyaw. The yield of chillies this year is about 300 visses per acre and higher than last year. Its price also increased and a viss of it fetched K 500 this year. Therefore, the chillies were being transported to not only Bayintnaung Market but also other depots in different townships.
