Buddha Pajuniya festival of Hsandawshin Myat Mawtin starts

The Buddha Pajuniya festival of Hsandawshin Myat Mawtin Pagoda was opened in Haigyikyun Township, Ayeyawady Region this morning.

At the ceremony, the senior Buddhist monks, Regional Chief Minister U Hla Moe Aung, Regional Minister for Development Affairs U Kyaw Myint, Secretary of the regional cabinet U Than Swe Win, Chairman of Zay Kabar Group of Companies Dr. Khin Shwe and Chairman of the pagoda board of trustees U Mya Maung cut a ceremonial ribbon to open the festival. Next, the chief minister and party had a documentary photo and sprinkled scented water on the archway.

The merit sharing ceremony of the Buddha Pujaniya festival followed by reciting the “Namo Tassa” three times. The congregation received “Five Precepts” from a senior Buddhist monk. Next, the congregation led by the regional chief minister donated offertories to members of the Sangha. The ceremony concluded with the three-time recitation of “Buddha Sasanan Ciran Tittahtu”, (May the Sasana endure forever) and the congregation headed by the regional chief minister offered day meal to members of the Sangha.

The Buddha Pujaniya festival of Myat Mawtin Pagoda is being celebrated from the full-moon day of Tabodwe to the full-moon day of Tabaung. During the festival, both motorcar and boat will ply between Pathein and Haigyikyun for convenience of visitors.—IPRD
