July 6,2022

EVERYBODY needs to consume food on a daily basis for their living. Only when their foods are nutritious, can they make efforts for the standing of their life. Food is essential for daily personal goods. To do so, they do cultivation and livestock and then consume these products.

Myanmar is based on agriculture and livestock farms. Most of the rural people are operating agriculture and livestock farms. Agriculture and livestock cost is very cheap. As such, if they make utmost efforts for operating the agriculture and livestock farming works, the production volume will increase and a surplus of products can be exported.

Myanmar is engaged in the cultivation of crops on 33 million acres of farmlands in addition to 11.7 million acres of doubled crops and over 34 million acres of mixed crops, totalling more than 48 million acres. If crops can be cultivated on all sown acreage, it can increase the volume of agricultural produce, creating more job opportunities.

Quality seeds of crops, fertilizer, supply of water and agricultural techniques are essential for operating agricultural farms. The Department of Agricultural Research in Yezin emphasizes conducting research works to produce quality strains of crops in order to come out with better quality crops.

The livestock farms across the nation are being operated to herd some 10 million cattle in addition to a large number of buffalos, pigs and chickens. In fact, agriculture and livestock farms are interrelated. Waste from livestock farms can be used as bio-fertilizer in agricultural farms.

As part of the effort to implement one of the economic objectives — To enhance production based on agriculture and livestock through modern techniques and strengthen all-round development in other sectors of the economy, the government is striving for boosting production of both agriculture and livestock farms with the purpose to penetrate the value-added products into the international market.

Farmers from both sectors need to observe modern techniques to be applied on their farms to ensure food sufficiency for the people as well as generate jobs for new generations. If so, those new generations need to catch up development of agriculture and livestock farms abroad by seeking the expertise and experiences of foreign experts.

Not only agriculture and livestock sectors but others need the strengths of new generations to initiate the improvements of these sectors to be able to contribute much to the process of building the nation to have progress and prosperity in the restoration of perpetual peace.
