The declaration took effect on Friday, with authorities urging residents and tourists to exercise caution.

This is the third time the state has taken such action.

The last declaration was issued in December.

The fires could spread over the weekend as temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, dry air, and high winds are forecast for some areas.

Blazes started across New South Wales in November.

Three people have died and more than 380 homes have been confirmed burned since New Year's Day on Wednesday.
