Ancient artifacts discovered in Myanmar’s central region

Minbu, 13 February

Ancient artifacts were reportedly unearthed by the members of a pagoda board of trustee in Minbu Township, Magway Region, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The alleged discovery of ancient artifacts was made by members of Shinpin Kyaung Lein Pagoda Board of Trustee led by U Thein Lwin while digging up a hole to erect a sacred flag of Buddhists (Sasana Flag) to organize a special Dhamma event about 50 yards of the pagoda. They found two small glazed earthen jars measuring about 4 diameters and 7 ft. in height, one broken earthen pot measuring 8 inch in diameter and 11 ft. in height, and five bronze bells weighing 50 ticals in maximum.

Currently, the ancient artifacts are being kept by the village administrator and arrangements are being to hand over them to the Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library.—MOHA
