With the aim of reducing crimes during Mandalay Thingyan Festival, about 500 members of police will be deployed, according to the Mandalay District Police Force.
At least seven policemen will be placed for security purpose at the crowded sites such water throwing pandals, entertainment pandals, corners and junctions nearby Mandalay moat.
“Checks will be carried out whether the revelers bring weapons and the likes or not through cooperation between members of Fire Services Department, policemen and security personnel from pandals.
In addition, there will be more security guards at Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, Taung Tha Man Lake and Kandawgyi.
This year the Mandalay Thingyan Festival will include walking Thingyan, Taw Thingyan and Pyidaungsu Thingyan as well 24-hour market will be opened at the east of the moat.
