AA insurgents attack police outpost in Ponnagyun, Rakhine State

AA insurgents attacked the Yotayoke Police Outpost in Ponnagyun Township, Rakhine State, on 9 March, killing 9 personnel, according to the Myanmar Police Force. 

 

One policeman was reported missing after the attack, they added.

 

The attack on the police outpost by the insurgents lasted from 11.20 p.m. to 11.50 p.m. The outpost is responsible for security in the area, and maintaining communal peace and the rule of law.

 

The police outpost in Yotakoke Village, headed by Police Inspector Saw Thein Tun, has also been tasked with storing question and answer papers of the ongoing matriculation exams from test centers in the area. 

 

The men who died in the attack are ethnic Rakhine locals from Ponnagyun Township and Yotakoke Village, said the Myanmar Police Force. MNA
