Taungoo, 13 March
As many as 960,000 stimulant tablets were seized on Taungoo- Thandaung-Loikaw road, Taungoo Township, Bago Region yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team led by Police Inspector Naing Soe Oo from Taungoo Police Station and Police Inspector Tin Oo and Sai Thiha Linn from District Police Office searched a 6-wheel truck Hino driven by Tun Tun Lin of Loikaw, 35 and his accomplice, Sein Lwin Oo of Pinlaung, 40 and seized WY/R branded 965,250 stimulant pills worth K 2895.75 million. Sein Lwin Oo managed to escape the scene.
The local police station has filed charges against the two under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law. The authorities are in hot pursuit of Sein Lwin Oo who is at large.—Ko Lwin (Swa)
