80 Thai citizens detained for staying illegally in Myanmar

80 Thai citizens—47 men and 33 women—were detained for staying illegally at two guesthouses in Mongkan Village, Monghsat Township, Wa Special Region-2 in Eastern Shan State on 3 February.

A group of local authorities led by U Win Tun, the Deputy Staff Officer from the Department of Immigration and Population and Police Sub-inspector Lay Ko Ko from Mongtuan police station together with eye witnesses arrested 80 Thai citizens at two separate guesthouses in Mongkan Village for violating the Myanmar Immigration Law and entering the country illegally.

Action is being taken against the detained Thai citizens in accordance with the law by the local police station.—Wai Phyo Lay
