7 killed in landslide in west Afghanistan

Seven members of a family lost their lives in a landslide that hit a remote area in western Afghanistan's Ghor province, state-run media Bakhtar News Agency reported Wednesday.

The mishap occurred Tuesday night in a mountainous village of Khuranj, Chaharsada district of the province, Bakhtar quoted local officials as saying.

Parts of Afghanistan have been receiving rain and snowfall since Monday.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan's meteorological department has predicted snowfall and scattered rain along with flash floods.
