Hlegu, October 16
Illegal sawn teaks were seized in Hlegu Township, Yangon North District, Yangon region yesterday morning.
While discharging their duties at around 4 am yesterday, a team led by the township forest officer U Tin Tun form Hlegu township Forest Department ordered a suspected vehicle to stop for inspection. The vehicle drove away and unloaded 67 illegal sawn teaks weighing 2.9058 tons at an open ground near Yay Kyaw village in the township.
Forest officers are investigating the owner of the car as well as those who were involved in illegal business to bring them to court.
