6 dead, 30 injured as six-wheeled truck overturns in Gangaw

Six people were killed and 30 others injured after a six-wheeled truck overturned in Gangaw Township, Magway Region, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
    

The accident took place between mileposts 77/1 and 77/2 on the Pale-Gangaw-Kalay Road in Gangaw Township at about 4:45 p.m. on 22 November. A six-wheeled truck with 49 people on board was heading to Pale from Htilin and flipped over after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The accident is believed to have started from a faculty braking system. Six people—three men and three women—have died on the spot and 30 people were hurt in the incident.


The injured people were admitted to a nearby public hospital and the driver identified as Thant Zin Oo, 22 years old is being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.—MOHA
